Easy Styling Tips

This is where the fun begins. After you have been thrifting for a bit and have found your new pieces, it is time to style it. First of and most important: Confidence is key. The key to making any outfit stand out is to wear it with confidence. When you feel good about yourself, that energy shows in your style. Celebrate the individuality of your second-hand items and trust your gut when creating outfits.

Mix High and Low

When you are combining thrifted items with modern pieces from your closet, you create a way to keep your outfits up to date. For example, you can wear a thrifted vintage blazer with basic black dress and trendy boots. This blend of old and new gives you a simple but thoughtful outfit that never goes out of time. You can also mix with layers which makes the outfit so much more interesting. Second-hand items usually feature different textures and details that look great in layered outfits.

Build Around a Statement Piece

One of my favorite things about thrifting and second-hand shopping is that when you find your statement pieces, it is most likely not many others who own the same thing. Thrift stores are great for finding unique items that you can not find anywhere else. I like to combine my statement items with basic clothes, for a well-rounded outfit. For example, a cool vintage leather jacket can stand out when matched with simple jeans and few accessories.

Accessorize Thoughtfully

I always make sure to look for accessories whenever I am out thrifting and all of my favorite items have been found in second-hand stores. Accessories such as jewelry, purses, and belts can make a boring outfit look great. Most second-hand stores have jewelry but I like to go to vintage jewelry stores that offer good quality and antique items. When it comes to jewelry such as rings and bracelets I like to mix gold and silver and stack them on each other to create layers, to create a unique look.

Take care!
